If you are looking for home remedies for yeast infections, there are quite of possibilities to try. Unfortunately, these treatments and remedies have mixed results, with minimal trials and a couple of options that can be toxic if not used properly.

As a word of caution if you experiment with home remedies, don't, when it comes to dealing with vaginal yeast infections. If you use the wrong products you could be in for a world of discomfort if you use the wrong thing.

Here are a few topical home remedies to try: One of the more common home remedies is to apply plain yogurt to your vagina. Make sure the yogurt has acidophilus cultures.

Garlic contains an antifungal agent that will kill the yeast. This treatment is for mild forms of yeast infections and not for people who are allergic to garlic. Peel a clove of garlic and insert it in your vagina. Leave it in for a few hours or at night for a few days including a day after the symptoms are gone.

Tea tree oil is another well known home remedy. Put a few drops on a non-applicator tampon that has a thin layer of KY or Vaseline to keep the teatree oil from absorbing into the tampon. Insert the tampon. The tea tree oil can sting, so be careful when trying this.

Another on the list of popular home remedies is boric acid. Boric acid is used to kill roaches and does kill yeast. You fill a couple of 00 capsules, that you get at your pharmacy, with the boric acid and use them as vaginal suppositories. The warmth and moisture will dissolve the capsules. Do this every night for a week. This treatment is strong and can work on bad yeast infections. Be careful because some people have experienced minor burning from the boric acid.

The list of popular and not so popular home remedies is very long. Some will work and some won't. A word of caution, if you are experimenting with these or trying a treatment for the first time--be careful.
